Invest early in your RRSP

While it's never too late to start saving for retirement, the earlier you can begin, the better.

In this example, a 25 year old contributes $1,000 each year until age 65, while a 45 year old contributes $2,000 a year until 65.

While both people contribute $40,000 in total, the 25 year old ends up with more than two times as much at age 65 as the 45 year old.

(a 6% rate of return is assumed in this illustration)
